Jordan Lewis is the Law Clerk at the Gist Law Firm. One of the Gist Law Firm’s former student Law Clerks from 2018-2019, Jordan returned to the firm full time in 2021. Jordan is a 2020 graduate of the South Carolina School of Law.
Jordan attained her undergraduate degree in English from Erskine College in Due West, SC and holds a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Coastal Carolina University. Before attending law school, Jordan taught high school English I, English III, Creative Writing, Public Speaking, and English Essentials for several years. She was also a Graphics Coordinator and Proofreader for Athens Publishing Company, Inc. in Calabash, NC, for years. Although she is a Baltimore, MD, native, Jordan calls the small town of Loris, SC, home and currently resides in Columbia, SC.
As a 2018 Konduros Fellow, she spent the summer of 2018 clerking for the Center for Heirs’ Property Preservation in Charleston, SC. At the Center, Jordan assisted the legal department combat heirs’ property issues in multiple counties in the state. While in law school, Jordan volunteered with the Pro Bono Program’s VITA tax assistance program. She was also an active member of the Matthew J. Perry chapter of the Black Law Student’s Association in law school where she served as the Corresponding Secretary for 2019-2020 and participated in the BLSA mock trial competition for two years. She sat as the Executive Managing Editor for Volume XIV of the Southern Journal of Policy and Justice. Jordan was also member of the nationally-ranked USC Law Mock Trial Bar, a board member of the Law Students of Color Collective, and a Peer Mentor.
As a Law Clerk for the Gist Law Firm, Jordan assists attorneys in their advocacy of clients through researching, drafting, and interviewing. Jordan is passionate about social justice and civil rights, making the Gist Law Firm the perfect place for her. After admission into the South Carolina Bar, Jordan intends to continue with the Gist Law Firm as an attorney. Jordan enjoys spending time with her twin daughters, illustrating, traveling, and being a fur mom to two cats.
